If you’re like me, and like to hoard empty baby food jars (what is it with those things?!) give these things to make with baby food jars a go! Do you have loads of empty baby food jars lying around, waiting for the day when you’ll “find something to do with them”? They’re so cute and so hard to throw out because you just know that one day you will figure out something EPIC.

 

I kept baby food jars until I realized that there was less and less room in my cupboards for my actual dishes. At that point, I threw up my hands and realized that “one day” was NOW, unless I wanted to throw out all of the jars I’d painstakingly collected.

 

 

If you’re in the same boat as me, you are officially saved. I’ve compiled a list of things to make with baby food jars, ranging from crafts you can do with your kids for fun, and crafts you can do yourself to have something handy around the house.

 

I love crafting with the unconventional, and you’ll find that I’ve found plenty of things to make with beads (besides jewelry), things to make with felt scraps, rocks, old CDs, and more! Now it’s time to find some things to make with baby food jars – let’s go!

1. Fall Globes:

 

Celebrate Autumn with these beautiful Fall Globes that look like colorful leaves falling to the ground! Of course, you can go with good old snow globes too…

This gorgeous craft is quick and simple, and perfect for a party! You can scatter these outside at an evening BBQ for an instant upscaling, or if you’re hosting an event, group them on the tables at different heights.

This DIY Mason Jar Night Light could easily be made with a baby food jar. It’s fun to make and you can coordinate the colors to your different bedrooms! What kid wouldn’t love a night light like this?

I used many different sized jars to make this marker storage caddy, but I used the baby food jars for the smaller items. They’re great for organizing in general, but this caddy allows you to corral a few.

This craft might be one that you’ll want to do outside, if possible, but boy will your kids have fun! If you seal them well enough, they’re beautiful windowsill or mantelpiece decorations. It’s also pretty cost-effective!

I made this Hanukkah Menorah a few years ago, and while it serves better as a table centerpiece than a functional Menorah, it is quite beautiful. It uses ten whole baby food jars!! So you’ll really purge your stash.

 

 

11. How to Tint Mason Jars by Hands On As We Grow:

This is a great craft to do with your kids that’s also decorative! You can use larger baby food jars for this craft to keep small bunches of flowers, or small ones to use as colored tea light holders. Either way, you’ll all enjoy this quick and simple project!

A friend made these desk organizers using a favorite (free) coloring page and baby food jars. Obviously, only the smaller ones are from baby food, but it’s still one of my favorite things to make with baby food jars!

If you like to sew, this is the perfect craft for you. The pincushion with the jar underneath is so convenient for keeping buttons, as demonstrated, but you can also store needles, sewing chalk, and a tape measure!

This sweet little craft is great for doing with younger kids. You can make the flowers out of the cupcake holders and straws, or leave the vase as is and fill it with real flowers. Either way, your child will be so proud of themselves!

19. DIY Spice Rack :

I just had to add this one to finish this list of things to make with baby food jars! I upcycled my baby food jars into a spice rack that hangs from a magnetic strip. It adds a touch of whimsy to our kitchen and keeps all my spices uniform!
