Thanks for all the info! I am very tech- and design-challenged, so I am really struggling with this. I started out with a free theme, which didn’t allow me to do a whole lot. Now I am trying to figure out branding, logo, design, etc. Your posts have been very helpful!

In reply to Vanessa. Hi! Illustrator is better as you want to create it as a vector graphic (one that can be resized without losing quality). Inkscape is probably your best free alternative to Illustrator. My top Photoshop alternative to recommend would be GIMP.

In reply to Shaindy. I've taken a look, and your logo actually looks great! I might not have combined two "title" fonts as that complicates things within the branding later on, but the overall design is beautiful. Well done.
