Hi!
You need to make the top portion thick enough (I believe that the air dry clay recommends 1/2 inch thick) so it’s not too brittle. Another idea would be to let it dry with screw eyes at the top instead of making holes in the clay. Goodluck!

Hi Linda, I colored the clay with gouache (any water based paint would work – the richer the color the better). I shaved chalk pastels and pressed them into the surface in addition to the color that I mixed into the clay – that was for texture.

HI Cheryl – it depends on the brand. Crayola’s takes about 24 hours to dry to the touch, and 72 to dry completely. I’d glaze after it’s dry to the touch.

Hi Julie, I don’t think this is the best choice for a party – you want to allow the clay to dry and then the glaze. You can try one of these instead.
