These free printable holiday gift tags were first published Oct 2015 and updated to showcase them better and make them current.

Winter is a season of gift giving, so I decided to help you out a little bit with these fun printable holiday gift tags. I personally celebrate Hanukkah, but I know that most of my readers celebrate Christmas, so I decided to create tags for both.

FREE PRINTABLE CHRISTMAS GIFT TAGS: 

I really went for abstract designs in muted versions of the colors that these holidays are normally celebrated in. On the Christmas cards, I did create one that looks like bokeh lights and the rest are simply fun plaid, torn paper, and lace style designs. Yup, I did intentionally aim for an old-time feel. I truly hope you like it.

FREE PRINTABLE HANUKKAH GIFT TAGS: 

For the Hanukkah cards, I also went a little old-time, though not as much. The one card shows a slightly abstract version of the Menorah glowing in a starry night. The others are again, torn paper, plaid, and a kind-of watercolor design.

I usually try to print out my printables, to show them to you in real life, but with these holiday gift tags, I had a hard time. I did print out the Christmas version, but when I printed the Hanukkah one, my printer ran out of Cyan ink (the blue one.) That’s rather essential for Hanukkah, don’t you think? Unfortunately my replaced ink isn’t working, so until I figure that out, I’ll have to provide mock-ups of my printables instead of print-outs. I do apologize.

HOW TO PRINT AND ASSEMBLE YOUR FREE PRINTABLE HOLIDAY GIFT TAGS:

• Download the PDF files above. 
• Print them out on card stock
• Cut them out with regular scissors, or with a paper trimmer (you can stack and do a lot at once if you use this. Just make sure that they are secured to each other so that you get an even cut.)
• I recommend using a paper punch for the hole
• Add them to your gifts using pretty ribbons, twines, and ropes!

These holiday gift tags are a pretty large size. I made it that way as it’s easier to print smaller than bigger. This way, it works for your larger gifts. Plus, if you need it for something smaller, you can just scale it down.

The summer days can be long and, well, boring! And if you’ve got little ones or even bigger ones to keep out of trouble, crafting can be the perfect way to do just that!

But there’s nothing as frustrating as coming into the day unequipped which is why I had this fun craft planner designed for you.

 It’s really easy to use!

How to use your craft planner:

• Start by jotting down a list of ideas on a scrap paper. Then plug it into the calendar page week by week.
• Go through  your crafts and create your lists! If you’re working with themes, make a new page for each theme. If not, skip that box. Make a list of ALL your materials in the “materials” box – and don’t forget quantities.
• Head over to your craft closet and check what you have being mindful of quantity. Anything that you don’t have enough of jot down in the “need to purchase” box.
• Any specific notes to remember, a step you want to keep in mind, a material that can be alternated for a cheaper item, etc? Jot it down in the “notes” section of your craft planner.
• And finally, stick your list in your handbag and go shopping! Or snap a picture on your phone before you hit the store.

If you think about the anatomy of flowers, they are basically made up of the same shape repeating itself over and over again. That’s why they’re so simple to reproduce in 3D.

This DIY paper heliconia flower craft is very simple because of the simple nature of the flower. It doesn’t require hundreds of petals and is a perfect paper flower craft for big kids, tweens, and teens.

Make a bouquet or make a few, attach them to a greeting card, gather them in a vase, or sell them on Etsy. Whatever it is that you choose to do with them, you do with them, you’ll take lots of pride in it!

In the past I’ve created paper flower templates that were more open-ended (color, craft, assemble however you’d like). Those used other materials as well.

These paper heliconia are very specific and great for those who love a functional end project with exact instructions.

Anyway, without babbling on any more, here is your tutorial!

What you need to make a DIY paper heliconia flower:

• Colored paper in green and one other color
• Glue
• Scissors

How to make a DIY paper heliconia flower:

1. Take a green paper and roll it into a thin roll. Secure it in place with a dab of glue.

2. Cut out at least 10 – 12 petals using the templates.

3. Take a petal fold it in half vertically.

4. Apply glue in the center of the fold and place the paper roll that you created in step 1 in the middle.

5. Crease your petal so that it’s completely folded around the paper stem.

6. Glue another folded petal in the same way, with the opening facing the opposite direction of your first petal.

7. Continue gluing on petals folded around your stem, alternating the direction of the opening.

Keep adding more petals like this until you are happy with it.

8.  Cut out two leaf shapes using green paper and glue them around the stem the same way you glued the petals.

I’d recommend choosing to fit your file to your media when printing.

Start by crossing off the items that aren’t relevant to you and highlighting high priority items.

That will help streamline the process for you. Since this is a generic cleaning list, there will be things that you don’t need to do!!

And highlighting high priority items ensures that you will have done the essentials first in case something happens and you don’t get through it all.

Decluttering with kids is one of those things that end up in a “some day sometime” list…

But it doesn’t have to be seen as a single formidable task. Broken down into bite-sized pieces, it’s totally doable.

While the list will be different for everyone, this is a great guideline – just check off those that don’t apply, and when you’re done with this list, there will just be those few that are left.

My first step to decluttering with kids was our playroom closet. I took it shelf-by-shelf, working with M when he was home sick. I made it into something super exciting for him. He gets to organize (new word!) with Mommy! And we found some missing toy treasures (including one that I MAY have hidden on purpose. Perhaps due to the absence of a volume control button on it. It may go missing again in the near future. Unfortunately it has survived the Great Flood of 2018.)

I hope to share the entire process when we’re done  (we’re halfway there!)

Stock up on some cleaning supplies, and some storage containers and you’re good to go!

For the rest of the house, I love Sunny Day Family’s  declutter checklist  – including a list of things to throw away now!

Understanding the Decluttering with Kids challenge terms:

• Organize/sort: Make sure each item has a practical, easy-to-maintain home, sorted with like products. Storage containers are your best friends. My favorite sizes are: A classic shoe box (6qt) size, a 12-18 qt. size, and a larger-but-manageable 56 qt size. I highly recommend ones with latches, especially for the smaller containers, for long-term results.
• Declutter/go through: Get rid of excess and take measures to prevent future buildup of clutter. Throw out and donate as much as you can, including anything that hasn’t been used in a year (or two for seasonal items.) Send old clothing to threadUP or a similar service, or donate them locally.
• Clean: Wash and disinfect. My favorite products for this are Honest Company’s newly formulated plant-based multi-surface cleaner and Seventh Generation Multi-surface wipes.
• Deep Clean: Just as it sounds – move everything out of the way, and do a much more thorough clean than you do on a normal basis.

Make a sweet pop-up card using your free printable turkey feathers. It’s perfect for showing a loved one how much you care, making a child feel truly special (M is obsessed with this), or giving with a hostess gift at the dinner you plan to attend.

I had many ideas for this pop-up turkey craft but ended up sticking with a card because it was the most straightforward.

It can be cool for napkin rings or place card holders.

I made an accordion with the feathers (and that’s what I technically designed them for) You can also use the feathers individually, for example, forming a napkin ring with them. And you can even connect some feathers at the bottom with a brad to fan it out that way.

I printed mine on colored paper. You can print them on white and color them in yourself. You can fringe the top for more texture. My purpose did not need card stock, but if you want it to be very stiff – especially if you’re not gluing it into an accordion (which gives it some structure) you’ll want to print on card.

Turn it into a greeting card by adding a sweet message of thankfulness – a wonderful way to make someone feel loved and to celebrate the holiday! I used two-toned textured card stock to make it feel really nice.

What you need to make your Pop-up Turkey Craft:

• Colored printer paper (or white paper + markers, but I’m warning you, it’s a LOT to color 😉 )
• Scissors
• Glue stick (extra strong)
• Colored card
• Marker (permanent if your card stock has a non-porous finish like mine)
• Recommended: paper trimmer

How to make a Pop-up turkey craft:

Watch the video below for the tutorial, or continue on for step-by-step directions:

1. Print your turkey feathers on colored paper. I used red and orange for my pop-up card and it adds to the cool 3D effect because they’re so close in color. Cut them out.

2. Glue them in an accordion. Start by placing one feather face down. Add glue to the right side up until the top section of the feather and place another face up on top. Add glue to the left side and place another face down. Continue with this pattern until you have enough for a half-circle (I used two sheets of feathers).

3. When it’s somewhat dry, loosen them as some of them may have stuck together where they’re not supposed to accidentally.

4. Let it dry completely before opening it up.

5. Fold a piece of card stock in half. Trim to the desired size, making sure each half of your card is wider than the stack of feathers.

6. Glue the accordion down using the end feather on each side so that the center will sit in the center of the card.

7. Create a body/face for your turkey if you’d like.

8. Glue it in place, tucking it slightly between two feathers, and checking that the angle allows it to fold nicely into the accordion.

9. Add a sweet message to the card.

That’s it! Your pop-up turkey craft is ready to give to a loved one!

• First day of school photos, printed out.
• Optional: your favorite photo prop.
• For the grown-up version: four thinner and two thicker dowels
• For the kid version: Two wide and four regular craft sticks
• Optional: paint – we used watercolors
• White cotton twine
• Hot glue gun (adults only) OR school glue
• Yellow origami paper

How to make some DIY wooden frames to remember the best day ever!

Prep a cup of Seattle’s Best Coffee® and start crafting!

1. Measure and mark the placement of your dowels so that it fits your printed prop.

2. (Adults only) Use hot glue to attach them together.

3. To add a nautical twist (since it’s a pirate, right?) I wrapped some white bakers twine around the corners a few times and tied it off in the back.

4. Make your hanger: cut six strands about nine inches long and knot them together at the top.

5. Attach your hanger to the two top corners. Wrap it around the corners so that it forms an X in the front and knot it off in the back.

6. For the kid version, we used craft sticks hot glued (by an adult) together. Your child can do it alone if you use plain school glue – it just needs time to dry. M painted it using watercolors (blue for water – his idea!!)  I hot glued a simple hanger made of twine to the back.

7. If you want to embellish it with a back to school theme, make some origami school buses!

8. Glue on your school buses.

9. If you’re doing a full frame, just tape or glue your back to school photo (using your Best Day photo props, of course) onto the back of the frame.

10. And if you want to incorporate the photo props into your frame, you can do that too! Just remove the cut-outs by cutting on the dashed lines. And then tape your photos (make sure that they are larger than the holes, which vary in size) to the back.

11. (Adults only) place a hanger on the wall. And now even your child can help by placing it onto the hanger!

M is SO proud of his Best Day memory that he created – and he loves that “Mommy’s project” is hanging next to his! We placed it in his bedroom, where he can remember the first day of school every morning when he wakes up.

I also made a “pop-up” version. When you open the green outside/pink inside card, the note stands up!

To make these lunch box note envelopes, I used two-sided card stock. I recommend laminating the notes if you plan to use them again (you can do this using clear shelving paper – which you may be using to cover books anyway – or even packing tape!) For more durability, print them on card stock.

How to make lazy mom lunch box notes that can be added to the lunch in minutes – and then reused!

1. Measure and trace around your lunch box notes plus a centimeter. Add a line for a slit around where the note ends.

2. Add two triangles to the sides. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect.

Cut it out.

3. Trace your lunch box note again. Add a tab to the bottom, the same width as the slit above.

4. Cut it out. Your two parts should look roughly like this:

5. Fold in the tab on your second piece of card stock and fold in the triangles and the extra centimeter overhang on your first.

6. Insert the tab into the slit.

7. Glue your centimeter overhang to the second piece of card stock – the one with the tab. Don’t glue down the tab.

8. Add a pair hook and loop closures to each of the two triangles on the sides.

9. Fold up the bottom of your envelope and fold in the sides to measure the placement of the second half and attach.

10. To hide my imperfect triangle (I told you this was a lazy craft!) I cut out this adorable image from the lunch box notes I printed from Seattle’s Best Coffee®.

11. Add a hook and loop closure to the tab inside the envelope. The second half gets placed on the lunch box notes – all of them, so that you can switch them out! Make sure you are placing the second half of the hook and loop in the same spot on every note, and that you’re placing the right half so that it connects to the one on the tab.

Want an even lazier version? Here ya go!

1. Measure your lunch box note and outline. Move it up and measure it again, creating another outline right on top of the original. Add triangles to the sides. Measure a round-edged flap on top (I traced my coffee mug, since that was the closest round edge…)

2. Cut it out and place a hook and loop closure on the inside panel where you will add your note. Place a corresponding hook and loop on the back of your notes.

3. Add hook and loop closures to the three tabs and to the corresponding parts of that bottom section – the part that folds up.

Your mix ‘n match lazy mom lunch box notes are ready to grab and go!

If I’m being honest with you, I had a vision for this peacock craft, and it didn’t quite come out how I thought it would, but I do like how it came out regardless.

Since there are LOTS of feathers to color for those of you who don’t  want a long, in-depth project, this makes a great collaborative effort. Looking for something simpler? These hot air balloons might be a better bet for you!

I used these markers and loved the rich colors that made all the difference in getting the right look!

I turned it into a jumbo pop-up card, perfect for a sweet and short message.  You can print it on card stock (I just used paper) to make it more stiff and firm, and then turn it into a fan or rosette wall hanging.

Since you’re starting with a base of individual peacock feathers, you can really do anything with them! You don’t need to fan them out like I did. You can just arrange them flat and glue them straight onto paper, behind your peacock body.

The way I did it, it has a dramatic pop-up effect when the fan opens that is just so beautiful…

It’s not perfect, but you can see it close-up, how beautiful the traditional peacock colors are – the rich blue and emerald green that remind you of that majestic bird.

But if you want to get more creative, try new looks and use your imagination! Turn it into a rainbow of peacock feathers, color-in an albino peacock, or  just pretend they’re flowers and place a few on branches, with touches of glitter to liven things up.

I confess: I did not  have the time to color each of these in, so a few feathers were hand-colored, and I photocopied some so that I should have enough. If you don’t have the time to color them all in, but you want to make this pop-up peacock craft, you can do just that!

What you need to make a pop-up peacock craft:

• The template.  Print it on paper or cardstock, depending on how stiff you want it.

• Scissors
• Glue stick
• Markers
• Scrapbook paper – I used two coordinating 12×12 sheets back to back

How to make the pop-up peacock craft:

Watch the video below if you want to see this craft in action! Or, scroll down for step by step photo instructions. I really recommend that you do watch the video for this one, as it was kind of hard to explain, but it’s really quite simple to create.

1. Color in your feathers. I used 12 feathers for my card – I may have been able to get away with only 10.

You can follow my color scheme below, or look up photos of peacocks and try out your own pattern.

If you plan to use it, color in the body as well.

2. Cut out your feathers. You’ll see that they are not all the same – the slight upward peak is on the right on some and the left on others. Make sure that they are divided accordingly.

3. Place your first feather colored side down, and add some glue to the right edge.

4. Place a mirrored image (the opposite direction) feather colored-side up on top so that they stack exactly. Press along the glued edge. Place a new line of glue down the left edge. Stack a mirrored image feather on top, colored side down, repeating the above cycle until you finish the feathers you plan to use.

5. You should now have a stack like this. Allow it to dry completely.

6. To create the pop up card that I did, fold down the bottom of your peacock body and glue it to the center of a sheet of 12×12 scrapbook paper.

7. Add a line of glue to either side of it.

8. Glue down one long edge of your peacock stack on one side of your peacock body. Then gently open it, nudging areas that might be accidentally glued together open gently. You’ll see the beautiful fan effect! Glue the last side down on your other side of your peacock body.

9. Fold your scrapbook paper in half. Gently nudge the peacock body and fold it in between the feathers so that it folds in nicely when you’ll fold your card in half. Glue it in place if you need to.

With your card folded, glue another piece of scrapbook paper back-to-back with the first, to make the outside of your pop-up card pretty. Trim it to the size that you want your card to be. Don’t worry if you need to trim your feathers a little – it will still look great!

This peacock craft is so beautiful that it doesn’t really matter if you did it neatly and perfectly or not.

It’s a clever way to surprise someone you love, to decorate, or to make just for fun!
